The three-part Bible series is great. Keep in mind none of the stones are duplicated from one book to another, so buying #3 does NOT mean you get everything in 1 and 2. You "need" all three, which gives you upwards of 750-800 stone descriptions in total.

This book has opened up a whole new world for me!

I bought this book to increase my knowledge of the stones and crystals I was using in my jewelry making business. I was buying crystal beads that appealed to my sense of sight but I noticed that there was something about the way they felt in my hands when I was working with them. This book explained so much of what I was experiencing and it has become an essential part of my business. I've made little info cards for some of the crystals I use in my jewelry making and my customers love it. Thank you Judy.

I'm really happy that it's been published in English

A few months ago, I wanted to purchase this book, but it was only available in Japanese. I'm really happy that it's been published in English, because this is the only series I enjoyed to the point of actually wanting to buy the book (mostly because of the comedy and likable characters make for high amounts of re-reading.) I don't like how there are comics printed behind the front and back cover instead of having their own pages, which makes the book feel cheaper. Overall, I'm happy with it.

Awesome Concept for a Manga

Oh my stars. This manga was so clever. It is set up like a series of side panels. If you are not familiar with this concept . . . Normally, in mangas, there are side panels that the mangaka usually add to convey some thoughts about their life or how they researched for the manga. Or they can add these extras at the end of the manga to have some fun with the characters. These are so fun to read. Like in this manga, there are usually 4 panels. The first panel is serious and sets the plot. Then the last panel is the punch line. It’s brilliant. So, just imagine a series of consecutive panels that have a plot and you have this manga. The characters are so funny and with a wide array of personalities. The artwork is nicely drawn. The hero is my favorite. Nozaki is hilarious. He is so clueless, you just love him. Sakura is good heroine. She became more of a supporting character to carry the joke. The side characters are just as cool. My only concern would be that the plot does get lost. So, I’ll interested in seeing how relationships developed. Other than that, this manga is awesome! It made me smile throughout. Even a few chuckles escaped. There isn’t a lot of romance. A quick read. I highly recommend.

I adore this series and was so happy to see that it had been picked up that I pre-ordered it to make sure I got it right away.

Chiyo Sakura is head over heels in love with one of boys in her school. After finally getting the nerve to confess her feelings to him, he misinterprets her confession for admitting that she's a fan of his and hands her a signed autograph instead. Confused, she tries to correct the misunderstanding--only to be misunderstood again. Soon she finds herself back at his house doing beta work on his art--and discovering her crush is nothing like what she thought. Nozaki is a mangaka--and not just any sort of mangaka--a shoujo mangaka. Meaning, this oblivious and clueless boy draws romance manga for a living.

Chiyo is quickly drawn into his world as his assistant, all while still trying to express her (extremely devoted) feelings to someone who just doesn't quite get it. Slowly the cast of characters grows, setting up one of the most amusing casts to the point that picking a favorite is almost impossible to do. This is a 4-komi style manga, which is more similar to the American Sunday Comic then the typical Japanese manga storyline. But it really works for this series. It is a comedy through and through and I can't wait for volume 2.

A great film inspires a fair book

I wish I could say Michael Eaton's Chinatown is required reading for film buffs, or for people who love the movie as I do, but I can't. It's not a bad book by any means, but I'm somewhat ambivalent about recommending it. The author deals in great detail with some aspects of the work in great (too much?) detail, while glossing or ignoring other important aspects of the film and why it is a masterpiece (and coincidentally why its ill-advised sequel failed). He also gets bogged down on some trivial coincidences in which he sees all too much meaning, as well as his Freudian interpretations. (What is it with film "scholars" and their "Freudianization" of everything?) But most of all the structure of the book is just flat-footed and monotonous, with too much scene recitation and too little insight. It reads more like a set of Cliff Notes than anything else.

Biblical Understanding of Time

The object of this book is to determine what is central in the Christian proclamation. "In what," asks Dr. Cullmann, "does the specifically Christian element of the New Testament revelation consist? That is to say, what is there which it does not have in common with philosophical or religious systems?" Dr. Cullmann finds his answer to these questions by means of a unique analysis of Primitive Christianity's conception of Christ's place in time. He describes this conception as a linear one, with Christ's life, death and resurrection as the mid-point of the entire historical process. In reference to our practice of numbering both forward and backward from the birth of Christ, he points out that "today scarcely anyone thinks of the fact that this division is not merely a convention resting upon Christian tradition, but actually presupposes fundamental assertions of New Testament theology concerning time and history. These presuppositions are just as foreign to present-day thought as the Christian calendar is familiar to it." Cullmann shows that the Biblical view of time is in opposition to the circular concept of Greek philosophy and in opposition also to the time conception of Karl Barth. He evaluates Albert Schweitzer's eschatology, and opposes Rudolph Bultmann's efforts to strip the framework of time from the Gospel accounts. Brilliant, scholarly, and well-organized, the book emphasizes the Kingship of Christ and builds to a concept of a divine plan that has as its aim the rdemption of all men, and in which there is a definite place for every human being-- past, present, and to come.

Primitve Christian conceptions are being returned/revealed

Very little is written in the last century about end times that is not tainted by an over emphasis
concerning final judgment of evil. The Parousia of the Lord is a time. The word Parousia means
"presence". All the prophets spoke must be fulfilled. The writer of Hebrews mentions a shaking
that's still coming. He was referring to Haggai 2:6 after Jesus came to earth.
This book is valuable in studying "times" and how everything that Jesus spoke has
prophetic meaning. What a study! Primitive Christian conceptions that are true are being revealed
anew by the Lord. We need them! An excellent book!
