A Righteous Representation

As someone who experienced first hand the youth culture generated by the 5%ers in the 70’s and 80’s in New York, I was pleasantly surprised that The Righteous Way not only reawakened long forgotten memories for me, but also offered keen insight into the social dynamics that served to crystallized the most popular and influential youth movement following the retreat of youth from both the civil rights and black power movements in America.
Starmel Allah removes the mystique of the 5% Nation to reveal a recognizable face, it’s humane heart and creative hands. He offers a encouraging alternative to previous distortions written by lazy news journalist and malicious enemies. This book is filled with first hand historical accounts from members in their own words, explanations of 5% philosophy, documentation of legal battles and numerous community photos.
