Simple book, good game (1 one year later update)

Expectation:
I wanted to buy two rpg games: one that I needed, and a brand new one in the market. My choices were Wild Talents and Eclipse Phase, respectively. But, looking for the new releases I came across Atomic Highway and bought it on a whim.
Honestly? I didn't expect much from this purchase: soft cover, low page count, unknown publisher and an unusual rpg genre.
Touching & Seeing it:
The cover is really cool and snatched my group's attention even amid other hardcover thick volumes. Pages go on a simple "cheap but thick" quality and the binding seems... ok; but I definitely won't bring it on a regular basis to the gaming table.
The inside is all black and white with characters' art peppered all over - they are ok, but just so. If just the book's milestone of quality were the cover...
Reading it:
Fun and concise writing. This book is simple and straight to the point and It goes an extra mile in being friendly to newbies, nice. My only criticism is that it COULD be more homogeneous in its fun and fast paced language while describing the setting building blocks, instead of saving it just to the rules' areas. It gives a general feeling of inconsistency.
At times you will be amazed at how briefly some topics were mentioned (psychic powers in one page...and it works!) at expense of some too lengthy takes in scavenging, for the matter (some pages of tables of what can be found and where). The book can be better edited to save space and give better focus in more relevant matters.
The good parts of the text make you laugh at times and ALWAYS gets his point across. Sometimes, it uses some really fun ways to do so, like the examples of distance and falling degrees. It's fun as hell and that's absolutely the objective and the result here.
Playing it:
Honestly... I've NEVER seen a game that drags your players to the good part of the game so quickly. Character generation makes sense and develops background, and if a player takes longer than 15 minutes to create his character he probably needs therapeutic help. That remains true even if you decide to add mutations or psychic powers to the roost; but putting a "battle car" together can take longer.
I took exactly 3 minutes to explain the system to my players and you have to consider that it delivers a very healthy plot and action control to the players - something that several complex and popular systems fail miserably at. It is not meant to be realistic, and even though it provides some interesting alternatives to common thorny issues.
Downside:
Character generation needs tweaking to be anything close to balanced. You are a feral survivor, you gain pretty stones and a knife; you are a "road warrior", you gain several points to build a battle car, the same amount of skills and certainly more useful gear than the pretty stones. It's BADLY broken.
Also, wdf?! How come that a game called Atomic Highway assumes the dangers of radiation poisoning should be left out of the equation because it's not fun??! Play Fallout 3 or Metro 2033 and you will see it right away!!
Conclusion
If you want something fun, uncomplicated, fast paced action go for it!
Finally, I see Atomic Highway as the first step that could benefit from more careful editing and writing. The game works, but the basic book could be better.

great for quick pick up and play

i really enjoyed this game its a great mix of fallout and D&D and without all the complicated understanding, and all it uses is a six sided dice system for combat and for loot. what the book lists of: character creation , background and pursuits , and brief understanding of the environment. types of enemy's, loot, weapons, vehicles, it looks over whelming its really not after you read for a bit. the only thing you need a couple of cooperative friends some dice and a good story and theres bound to be fun had

Best role playing game since original d&d or gamma world. easy to learn and a hoot to play wish there were more companion book for game.
